About our Presenter:
Born and raised in Texas, Mericia has called Hawai’i home since 2001. A one-time actress/producer, occasional professor, and attorney, Mericia found a home with SAG-AFTRA as the Hawaii Local’s Executive Director.
In addition to serving on the Pacific Islanders in Communications Board, she is also the Chair of the Hawaii Film and Entertainment Board, and an adjunct professor in the University of Hawai’i system.
She lives on Oahu’s beautiful windward side with her 3 kids, 3 dogs, 4 chickens, and her husband.
About our Moderator:
Mary Baghdady is the Executive Director of the Hawai’i Filmmakers Collective.
A designer and producer, she originates from Charleston, SC, and graduated from Clemson University with a BFA in Visual Arts. She works at the Applied Research Laboratory at UH as a media specialist collaborating with engineers to conceptualize multi-media projects.
She won the Hawai’i Filmmakers Collective 2018 pitch and completed her first short film, “Turn On Your Own,” which screened at the 2019 Made in Hawai’i Film Festival. She also executive produced the webseries “Like Maddah,” created, written, and executive produced by Stacy Fukuhara- Barclay.
