Attention Songwriters!
Starting in January 2021, big changes are coming to the way self-administered songwriters are paid royalties for online streams of their music, and The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) is leading those important efforts. Created following passage of the historic Music Modernization Act of 2018, The MLC is responsible for administering new blanket mechanical licenses to digital audio services and then collecting and paying out royalties to self-administered songwriters just like you under those licenses.
We strongly encourage all self-administered songwriters to participate in a FREE webinar hosted by The MLC Thursday, January 28, 2020 @ 11am HST specifically produced for Hawaii’s music industry that will outline how Hawaii’s self-administered songwriters can join The MLC free of charge and submit their musical works data to The MLC Portal now in order to be eligible for the first distribution of royalty payments next Spring.
